Alex Hillman Writes Here: A Roadmap for Community Organization and Mobilization - Harvey Milk

  • Ryan Graves · 1 year ago
Wow- That's awesome. I'm definitely going to try and catch 'Milk' can I find it online?

@Ryan Graves: It's screening regionally...check your local movie house. It probably won't be in a multiplex.

Worth traveling for, though. It's really that good. And Sean Penn totally kills it.

Great post. I saw "Milk" a few weeks ago and was embarrassed for not having known of Harvey Milk before and inspired by him to do something for the GLBT cause and others. Harvey Milk is sorely missed; I hope that we can live up to the standards he set.

Bravo! A wonderful script to follow. Ever since the day after the Nov. 4th 08 election and the results of Prop 8, I have been trying very hard to organize, educate and mobilize a call to action. This will help me and the movement around me in my State of Missouri.

Thank you for sharing a great recipe for successful activism.

I'm very sad that I had missed this movie when it was in Philadelphia after hearing all of the amazing things. Harvey Milk was a great man and his lessons and goals will not soon be forgotten.

The original Documentary made in the mid 80's is worth seeing as well:

Fantastic post, my man. Glad you got a chance to see this movie too, and then post most of the things I thought while watching it myself.

This movie is also a fantastic case study in the benefits of failure. Every time he ran and lost, his contingent got bigger, and he got more experienced, and the momentum behind his eventual success made him that much more influential.

An inspirational story for any community organizer.
