Alex Hillman Writes Here: Philadelphia Jelly = Cream Cheese Sessions?

  • hillary · 2 years ago
I’m considering contacting twitter to set up a “PhillyCreamCheese” group that people can join, and I’ll send out an notice (or anyone, really) that I’m working from location “X” today, and anyone can join me. Impromptu Coworking at it’s finest, dontcha think?

such a great idea. there's a huge coworking scene in SF -- i would totally join a twitter coworkingSF group.

Alex, excellent work once again. If you do your next session in Center City, it would be great to drop in.

What you're doing here is so cool. I'm really excited to support it. There's so much awesome talent in Philly and what's great about our city, is that people with talent can *afford* to live here and work independently. It would be near impossible to do that in NYC or SF.

    Annie,
"Afford" is relative. I'm going to be careful here because it's something I admittedly don't know a LOT about.

Lots of people like Philly but are moving to the burbs because of things like city wage tax and business privilidge tax. I have to wonder, with the right exposure, if groups like ours could petition local government to let up on some of the heavy taxation for people participating in innovative groups like ours? They make the city look good, bringing in more people who want to work here, so the collective taxable income goes up...so why not let up on the individual's burden?

Just a thought, in case Mayor Nutter is reading dangerouslyawesome.com.
