Each payment gateway has close to a 3% transaction fee and some with a start up fee ($80) and some with monthly fee's. I created this business to MAKE MONEY not spread the wealth with my hard earned work. I don't know why I decided to go with Shopify but I am really dissapointed in this after we couldn't hold on to Stripe very long.

Without a doubt. No system is as easy to configure and elegant to operate as Shopify. The hours saved from trying to make any other system as pleasant to use is more than outweighs the % of revenue shared to them.

Thanks for this list. With 3% of all sales going to Shopify, plus another 2-3% going to a payment gateway, do you still think Shopify is worth it when compared with free options like Zen Cart and OSCommerce, and if so, why?

ah, good to know, though that's an obscure place to look for the average shopify user (the non programmer).
